Must hold NZ Diploma of Teaching (Primary) Level 7, a Bachelor degree Level 7 (360 credits), Honours degree Level 8 (480 credits), or Master's Level 9 (240 credits), or equivalent. Requires professional reference, interview demonstrating Teaching Council standards, Literacy & Numeracy Step 5, te reo Māori Level 1 (Te Aho Arataki Marau), NZ Police vetting, and disclosure of disabilities. International applicants need overseas police certificates.

“Applicants must provide evidence of meeting English language requirements according to the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand’s English language proficiency requirements. International applicants must also meet English language requirements according to Rule 22 of the New Zealand Qualifications Authority Programme Approval, Recognition, and Accreditation Rules 2025.”
