UIP reporting and the levy, built in

If you enrol international students but don’t draw TEC funding, your reporting obligation is not the SDR. It is the Unfunded International Providers data collection. Enrolmate is built for exactly that.

What UIP is

The Unfunded International Providers (UIP) data collection is how the Ministry of Education gathers enrolment data from providers whose international students aren’t captured by the funded Single Data Return. If you’re an unfunded PTE teaching international students, this is your obligation, and it’s where the numbers behind the Export Education Levy come from.

The Export Education Levy

The Export Education Levy (EEL) is charged on international tuition to fund promotion and protection of New Zealand’s export education. For private providers it is 0.89% of international tuition fees, calculated per trimester. Enrolmate computes it from the enrolments you’ve already recorded, so the figure isn’t a spreadsheet exercise at deadline time.

What the console does today

  • Records UIP enrolments. Capture the Group 1 field set (student, programme, dates, fees) as students enrol, validated as you go.
  • Previews your levy. See your Export Education Levy per trimester, derived from those enrolments, with no re-keying.
  • Keeps one source of truth. The same enrolment that drives your applications drives your reporting, so the two can’t drift apart.

On the roadmap

  • UIP submission file. Generating the Ministry’s submission format directly from your recorded enrolments. In progress: we’re matching it to the current template.
  • Group 2 field set for providers whose returns need the fuller schedule.

Reporting for an unfunded international provider? We’d like to get your submission right against your real return.
