Entry requirements
Applicants under 20: NCEA level 2 or 3 (incl. 10 literacy credits at level 2, 10 numeracy credits at level 1) OR NZ Certificate in ECE (Level 3 or 4) OR equivalent overseas qualification; discretionary admission possible. Applicants over 20 without standard entry may qualify via special admission by demonstrating academic ability. All applicants must meet Children's Act 2014 requirements including ID verification, education/work history evidence, two written references, personal interview, Teaching Council good character/fitness criteria, and NZ Police vetting.
English requirements
“International applicants must provide evidence of meeting English language requirements according to Rule 22 of the NZQA Programme Approval and Accreditation Rules 2025 for a Level 5 programme. Domestic applicants for whom English is an additional language must show three years of secondary education taught in English or meet Rule 22 requirements.”
